Radoslaw Piesiewicz received his PhD degree with summa cum laude in communications technology from Technical University of
Braunschweig, Germany and his M.Sc. degree with highest honors in optical and microwave communications from Technical
University of Gdansk, Poland. Dr Piesiewicz currently holds a position of Director of R&D: ICT Development at the
Wroclaw Research Center EIT+ in Poland, where he is responsible for building the ICT Research Center, overall development
activities in the area of ICT, acquisition of funding and is also actively engaged in research, leading cognitive radio and

Before joining Create-Net he was with the Terahertz Communications Lab and in the Institute for Communications Technology in
Braunschweig, where he was awarded Walter Kertz prize for achievements in interdisciplinary research linking electrical
engineering with physics. His current research interests include cognitive and reconfigurable radio systems as well as hybrid
wireless-optical communications and THz systems. He is WG3 chair (Cognitive Network Wide Mechanisms) in the COST IC0902 action
(Cognitive Radio and Networking for Cooperative Coexistence of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks). He is author of more than 60
publications and was a distinguished key note speaker at IEEE NGMAST conference in Cardiff, UK.
